Rama Ekadashi, also called Kartik Krishna Ekadashi, is named after Maa Laxmi, the Goddess of wealth and good luck, who is the wife of Bhagwan Vishnu. On this day, both Vishnu and Laxmi are worshipped. Lord Vishnu has many names, and one of them is Damodara, which refers to Krishna, who is the 8th form of Vishnu. In the Damodara form, Krishna is the main deity of Rama Ekadashi. The name Damodara comes from two Sanskrit words: "Dam," meaning rope, and "Udara," meaning belly. When Krishna was a baby, his mother Yashoda often tied him with a rope to a pillar because he was very mischievous. So, Damodara refers to Shri Krishna, who is Bhagwan Vishnu.
Observing the Rama Ekadashi Vrat is very helpful for devotees, bringing them blessings from both Bhagwan Vishnu and Maa Laxmi.
Rama Ekadashi is important because of the story of a demoness named Maya who was defeated by Lord Rama. In Hindu beliefs, Maya caused pain and trouble for both gods and people. By defeating her, Lord Rama showed his strength and goodness. Following Rama Ekadashi is thought to help followers overcome their own problems and enemies, just like Lord Rama did with Maya.
