The second and final Surya Grahan (Solar Eclipse) of 2025 is set to occur on September 21, marking a significant celestial event. However, this time, the eclipse will not be visible from India. According to Indian Standard Time (IST), the eclipse will commence at 10:59 PM on September 21 and conclude at 3:23 AM on September 22.

A solar eclipse happens when the Moon positions itself between the Earth and the Sun, leading to the Sun being partially or fully obscured. This rare astronomical event symbolizes new beginnings, transformations, and presents both opportunities and challenges for all zodiac signs. It is considered important to understand its influence in advance and make informed decisions accordingly.

Date and Details of Surya Grahan 2025

The last partial solar eclipse of the year 2025 is scheduled for September 21. Although not visible in India, the event holds great significance because it coincides with Sarvapitre Amavasya, an important day in Hindu tradition. Furthermore, the very next day, Sharadiya Navratri begins, adding to the spiritual relevance.

As per astronomers, the eclipse begins at 10:59 PM (IST) and ends at 3:23 AM (IST). While the event will be observable in regions such as New Zealand, Antarctica, South Pacific Ocean, and parts of South Australia, it will not impact visibility in India.

Will Sutak Period Be Observed in India?

The Sutak period traditionally begins 12 hours prior to a solar eclipse and is observed with restrictions on auspicious activities and food consumption. However, for this particular eclipse in 2025, the Sutak period will not be applicable in India since the eclipse itself won’t be visible from the country.

Recommended Post-Eclipse Rituals

Once the grahan concludes, it is advised to follow these practices to neutralize any negative energies:

  • Take a ritual bath and thoroughly clean your home, especially the temple area.

  • Sprinkle Gangajal (holy river water) to purify the space.

  • Perform prayers and worship deities.

  • Make charitable donations, especially to temples.

Important Precautions to Remember

  • Close temple doors before the surya grahan begins.

  • Avoid eating food during the Sutak period.

  • Add basil (Tulsi) leaves to food to safeguard it from inauspicious influences.

  • Pregnant women should remain indoors and not step outside during the eclipse.

  • Refrain from starting any auspicious tasks or ceremonies during this time.

This Surya Grahan of 2025 holds unique astrological significance due to its timing and related festivals, even though it won’t be visible in India. Observing proper rituals and precautions is considered essential to harmonize with the cosmic energies.
